I will start with my conclusion on this watch and for those that want some color can chose to read on. This watch is awesome and an incredible value for something you don't see everyday (at least in the US). It exceeded my expections.
On the wrist it looks and feels like a sport watch many times it's price. If I closed my eyes it feels very similar to the new Rolex Subs, or my Daytona (albeit a little thicker) or the IWC Ingenieur I had (Gerald Genta style from the 2000's). It oozes quality. I have other Grand Seikos and a Marine Master and this does the graceful dance of capturing the best qualities of both. It has all the things that make Grand Seiko great (polishing, finishing etc) yet combines the toolish practiality of the MM 300. The antimagnetic properties, the water rating to 200mm and the lume are functions not seen in many Grand Seikos yet it is all offered up in a well finished package that just crushes it. I am fortunate to have many nice watches but this one was a surprise. It attracted me based on its specifications, the dial, and that is it relatively uncommon and not one of the new Grand Seiko darlings.
Seiya's service was supurb. I have purchased 5 other watches from him and he and his organization is outstanding. I will say that this was the first time I had problems with US customs. Not sure if it is the price of the watch or changes in regulations or procedures but it was stuck in customs for several days. Seiya provided complete support from his side. I also had to pay a custom's duty that I never had to pay before.
