SeiyaJapan Original Watch Automatic A167-A

The Seiya answerd that question for me. It looks great and really checks the boxes for a simple field watch. The Miyota is a good choice for this watch. The screw-down function of the crown is a bit clunky, but so are the screw-downs on my Seikos, so I cannot complain too much. It comes with an array of straps, all usable.

Love the watch, hate the lug bars & screws. Give me drilled lugs any day.

I purchased an A167-A and am incredibly pleased with it. It is a beautiful watch, the fit and finish is exemplary, the customer service was above and beyond.For the price this is incredible. Arigato gozaimasu.

I purchased the seiya Japan original A167-A. It arrived quickly to USA as his shipments always do. All was good and the watch is perfect. A few weeks went by and I had to have back surgery. I am now recovering and in the mail I received a postcard form Japan. He wrote me to ask how I liked the watch. I was so overjoyed that a retailer actually reached out to me and thanked me for a purchase. His service is superior and I have committed to only using him for any purchase coming out of Japan. Well done Seija San. If you do not want to pay $10,000. for a Rolex Explorer buy this watch, you will get the same satisfaction.

The watch was received in good time as usual, and with additional 2 x NATO straps over and above the 4 straps that came standard with the package - a nice gesture from Seiya san that is well appreciated. One of the reason I purchased this watch is my curiosity in the performance of the Miyota movement. It ran on average about +10 seconds in 24 hours which is way better than the official rating. It is a pretty light watch and at 38 mm, it wears comfortably on the wrist. The polishing and brushing is commendable at this price point and it would be a perfect watch if not for the following:

A. The date window and the size of the hour marker "3" is a little imbalance, and too close next to each other. I believe reducing the font size of the numerals would resolve this. Actually, no date will give this watch a cleaner look and I did consider the model A167-C Non-Date but I preferred the cathedral hands on this "A" model.

B. For the convenience of strap change (since the package comes with 4 straps), it would be better that the watch be fitted with a regular spring bar than the screw-in type spring bar which is a bit cumbersome to change and take a little more time to do so. Also, the thicker spring bar narrowed the gap between it and the case so I have difficulty inserting my leather NATO strap through it as it was slightly thicker than the nylon NATO.

I recently bought one of these from Seiya and am extremely pleased with the watch, and the excellent level of service. This watch, and its brother, the type B, are hidden away in the Accessoriies corner of the website. The only difference between them is the dial, and I spent a long time deciding which to choose.
I eventually chose the A model because of the cathedral style hands and the railway line minute marker track. Delivery was very quick, less than a week to New Zealand from Japan, and it was very well packed. Seiya generously provided some extras, including a black NATO strap, and extra spring bar and screws The watch arrived on the cotton khaki strap, and I decided to change it to the brown strap, on which I think it looks better. I have been wearing it for about 5 or 6 days now, and it is beautiful and legible, and keeps very good time. It’s a good everyday watch that needs refinement. I like the luminescent hour and minute hand, unfortunately the second was not which I think would make the watch more interesting to buyers.

I am impressed with the design and build of this watch, and I cannot help noticing that because of its dial design (Type A), hands, and size, it reminds me of my Alpinist.
This watch is versatile–especially with the extra straps–and offers most of the things I would like in an everyday watch. A big thumbs up for Seiyajapan's excellent service.
